The Ottawa National Forest will conduct a 2-acre prescribed burn around the Watersmeet District Office facilities in Watersmeet on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
Ignition is expected to begin around noon, and the burn is anticipated to take approximately two hours to complete.
During the prescribed burn, smoke may be visible from other areas of town. The Watersmeet District Office will remain open; however, visitors may need to be escorted into and out of the District Office building while the burn is underway to ensure everyone’s safety.
Access to the Visitor Center will not be affected.
